Liturgy is the structure that we use for our period services.  The word liturgy comes from the Greek meaning "work of the people".  For our Civil War work, we have created Union and Confederate versions of a Field Prayer Book which incorporates liturgy from the 1789 Protestant Episcopal Prayer Book (1845 revision) drawn from www.justus.anglican.org/resources/bcp.  The liturgy is an great way for re-enactors and spectators to join in.  It is like a script that everyone can follow.  We generally do a morning/evening prayer service and you can look at a sample to get an idea of what these are like. There are modern churches that use historic Anglican liturgies and adhere to the ancient, orthodox Christian beliefs that so shaped our history, examples include the Charismatic Episcopal Church and the continuing Anglican churches.  One of these churches may be of interest to you.

Music is an important part of worship.  The music that we use is from www.cyberhymnal.org, an excellent site that has thousands of hymns with words, midi files, history, etc.  For our Civil War Field Prayer Books, we have selected a set of hymns from 1862 or earlier.  For services we plan to use an portable pump organ that we are restoring into service.  Jo and Jenn play also play guitars, sing very well, and Jenn plays the violin.   We are looking for folks to join in for congregational singing, to make a joinful noise.  If you come to our services, please don't hesitate to join in.  We are looking for worship not a performance.  If you want to sound better, you can go through the set of hymns and learn them.  That will help a lot.  Additionally, we will seek to have planned orders of worship for upcoming events (subject to change) that will list the song we are looking to use and the scripture readings.
