Individual Volunteers

Prayer Ministry
The prayer ministry is the bedrock upon which we build. Those willing to intercede for HFM will receive specific prayer requests for both the ministry and those to whom we minister. We would ask that prayer ministers be willing to pray daily for Historic Faith Ministries in general as well as for specific needs as they arise.

Costumed Living History Interpretation
Evangelists, this a great place for you to shine! Interpreters interact with the public both individually and at large. Conversing with event attendees affords rich opportunities to explain Christianity’s part in our nation’s heritage, both centuries ago and today. One-on-one evangelism not your cup of tea? No need for concern: there is a place for everyone with a canteen or a hoop skirt and a willing heart! Opportunites include but are not limited to: musicians and/or vocalists (or vocal groups) for sacred music, 1st and 3rd person impressions, colporteurs (hand out gospel tracts, listings of day’s events), hospitality ministers(distribute water bottles, candies, etc.) and guides.

Hospitality Ministry
Volunteers for hospitality ministry may participate in as many components as they feel called. You can help by:

  • Offering lodging for out-of-town ministry impressionists.
  • Greeting visitors (while costumed).
  • Cooking for after-church picnics, coffees, and teas (as seasonably appropriate).

Multimedia
We need photographers and videographers as our “war correspondents” in the field to provide images and video for media outreach and training materials.

Crafting
Seamstresses, woodworkers, or other craftsmen, we need your help to equip volunteers. Love needlework? We’d love for you to ply your needle in costume, hopefully working on some historically accurate pattern, and perhaps striking up a conversation or two about the difficulty of obtaining silk floss with the Federal blockade in place! Seamstresses, help your fellow interpreters look their part by sewing period costuming or teaching others to sew their own clothing. Woodworkers, blacksmiths, and other trades also have a place to contribute and shine, and we’d love to talk to you about the project needs of the ministry.

Historical Researcher and/or Lecturer
This is the place for bibliophiles, history buffs extraordinaire and civil war trivia aficionados. Research individuals for first person interpretations and detailed history of specific events or topics. If you love a hunt for history, you’ll love researching! Toastmasters, unite! Lecturers are needed to participate as guides, taking the public through historic sites or specific events, enriching their experience with your fresh (and accurate, of course) outlook on your topic.

Authors
We are also in need to those trained and/or willing to write press releases for events, generate program literature, and script period appropriate conversations.
